"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." - Acts 1:8

I recently was sitting in the company of a group of pastors whom I love and appreciate their friendship and ministry. They vary in age, church size, and ministry approaches but all have doctrinal clarity, biblical philosophy, and a passion for the Lord's work. While we were exchanging blessings and burd...

"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." - 1 Corinthians 15:58

Yesterday, people all across the world sat in churches and heard of the miraculous power and acts of an incredible God. In fact, our entire Christian faith is based upon the miraculous. A virgin-born Savior who lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death for the entire world, resurrected three days later, ascended into...

"What a great service today!" Exclaimed the excited husband to his wife on his way to the car following the morning worship service. "It was almost as if the pastor was speaking directly to me; and the music, the music was just Spirit-filled and exciting, I cannot wait to go back this evening!" As they jumped into their car, his wife replied "God is really doing an amazing work at our church, I am so glad that we get to be a part of this church." The husband and wife excitedly rushed towards the restaurant where...

The Christian life is a call to follow Jesus Christ. In my early twenties, I was asked to serve in a large ministry in a difficult leadership position. I was younger than many of the other staff members but I was placed in a position of leadership. This caused a great deal of friction just simply because of the fact that I was younger and leading. I read every book I could lay my hands on when it came to leadership principles. I read after pastors, coaches, CEO's, by the way, John Maxwell should give me stock in...

"With every head bowed and every eye closed, if you want to join the church today, just step forward and one of our altar workers will meet you at the front and help you with this decision." This is not an uncommon way to invite people to join the membership in the average Baptist church today. Although I cannot say that this is unbiblical, I can certainly think of many reasons why it is probably unwise. With church attendance on the decline, we must also assume that biblical understanding about the church and me...

As a kid growing up in a suburban area, our family never really did much gardening. My grandfather in Hendersonville, TN always had a small garden that he would work hard to tend and share the food that he grew in his garden with family, friends, and people in need. Every summer I would go to spend two weeks with him and we would work hard in his garden. I have never really developed a love for gardening but I certainly have great respect and admiration for those who work and enjoy the art of gardening. In God's...

Last weekend, the classic book and movie, Ben Hur, was released as a new movie. Many watch the movie every year around Easter and enjoy the fictional character, Ben Judah, and his struggle to come to faith. What many people do not realize is the original book was inspired by an atheist! In fact the author, Lew Wallace, became a believer while penning the original book. Read the account of the story below.

In 1876, after a conversation on a train with a well-known atheist, Col. Robert G. Ingersoll, Lew Wa...
